rdPalettes Tutorial 1.2 – Basic Concepts

Tutorial created using rdPalettes version 1.0

This is more just a simple breakdown of the rdPalettes Concepts rather than a tutorial.

An rdPalette is a floating window that resides in the level viewport. It has per-pixel translucency and is rendered from a texture and mask texture rather than with UI elements. It supports buttons, menus, sliders but not more complex widgets.

A Slot is a saved set of property settings relating to either the Landscape Editor UI or the Foliage Editor UI. These slots are saved per-project and can be imported/exported/copy/pasted from clipboard.

Slot Types are flags indicating which sections of these slot settings get applied. You can apply any combination of Tool Mode, Brush, Selection and Tool Settings.

Skins are the palettes UI design – you can have any shape and up to 240 slots per skin. The skin can also have close and settings buttons. There are a number that come with the plugin and more are available for free from the Skin Downloads section. It is also very easy to create your own custom skins.
