rdSplatTools Tutorial 1.2 – Painting

Last Updated: 5th October 2026
Tutorial created using rdSplatTools version 1.00

You paint onto the landscape/meshes directly in a similar way to the landscape paint system – you’ll see the painted areas highlighted in the layers color. The cursor reflects the size, strength and falloff of the brush. These can be changed from the Brush section in the details panel.

When you paint you’ll see the landscape and meshes highlight in the color selected for your layer. If there are other layers on the area you paint, you’ll see a mix of the colors.

You can add as many layers as you want – they all get stored in the same datasets. Only 8 are visible while painting though. You can add new layers, delete layers, change their visibility in the editor and select the current one from the Masks section in the details panel.

There are also tools to Clear either the current Layer (Mask) or All

Undo is also supported for your painting with the Undo button or ctrl+z.
