rdSplatTools Tutorial 1.3 – Changing Falloff
Last Updated: 5th October 2026
Tutorial created using rdSplatTools version 1.00
When you paint your areas in your level, they can have a brush falloff specified. This can be a little tricky to get consistent when you’re painting multiple strokes and can’t easily be changed once painted.
rdSplatTools provides a solution for this by using SDFs to create any falloff from the median of the existing falloff gradient.
To Change your falloff, simply select a falloff value in the box and click the button. the falloff can be between -512.0 and 512.0.
If “Edge Only Falloff” is ticked, the falloff is centered on the edge of your draw areas, 50% strength.
When it’s unticked, a positive number creates the falloff outside the edge, a negative number on the inside.

You’ll see the new falloff after a short processing period.

You can remove the falloff at any time by setting it to “0.0” and rebuilding.
